Now that you're up to date on the cuts and colors of the season it's time to talk style. I'm an advocate of enhancing your natural beauty and natural hair seems to be the trend this season, well the illusion of natural hair that is! It's all about embracing your hair texture and running with it. It’s time to start rocking those natural curls and use that texture to your advantage. It's as easy as throwing in some mousse and using a diffuser to entice the curl. If you have specific areas that just don’t want to curl or need a little lift, use a curling iron (with a similar size barrel to your own curl pattern) to enhance the curl. Embracing my curls was the best thing I have ever done with my hair, it's less time consuming and my hair has never been healthier! Say goodbye to long, beach waves, and hello to a more effortless 'I just rolled out of bed' look. There are a few ways to achieve this. Place the curling iron in the middle of the section and twist once or twice depending on the hair length, this will give a looser curl and cut down on styling time. Using a curling iron with a one and a half inch to two inch barrel is a quick and easy way to give a 'barely there' wave. To funk up your style a little run the flat iron over the ends of your hair after curling, this creates a sharp edgy look. I always recommend using a spray wax to finish your hair when trying to get this disheveled wave! My go to is L'anza's Air Paste, I use it on almost every client, it can be brushed out and doesn’t weight the hair down. The ponytail has been reinvented this season, its no longer reserved for bad hair days and post gym! There are many different ways to wear this traditional school girl look, from high on top of the head to low and texturized. The chic slicked back look is one of my favorites, this can be worn either high, middle or low on the head and is great for transitioning from the office to a night on the town! You ladies that are wearing the laid back curls have multiple options, try a low pony with some face framing pieces to get a loose boho look, or a high slicked back pony with big texture throughout the length to add some drama! The triple threat pony tail, sits high on top of the head and has clips or hairbands at the top middle and bottom to add volume. If all else fails the traditional ponytail is classic and will forever be in style!
As much as it pains me to say this, the 90's are back! We've been seeing this trend in the fashion world and its creeping it's way back into your hair through accessories. It started with the scrunchie and its not stopping there. Get ready to see bedazzled bobby pins, banana clips, zig-zag head bands and that famous claw clip, they are back and ready for action! This seasons is all about spending less time on your hair and more time living life! From natural and undone waves that can be worn two days in a row, to pony tails with diamond studded clips. Embrace the laid back look of fall and try one of these styles when you just don’t feel like washing your hair!
